Cacerolada

Everyday from 21h20 to 21h 30 there are demonstrations in Barcelona the complaining way is easy and noisy: go to the balcony or a window and hit a saucepan with a skimmer. Why do neighbours of Barcelona complaining about? It is related to the crisis lived in Spain during the last year and the reason that thousand of people are still camping in main squares of certain cities of Spain.

Added to the noise of the saucepans , drivers use their claxon. This situation has no a clear end by the moment as people camping in squares decided not to move and continue with the demonstration. Spanish government has not an answer about the situation .

15-M in Spain

A young group of Spanish people encouraged Spanish citizens to take the streets the 15th May in order to complain about the social and economical situation of Spain. So through internet this movement has extended and nowadays thousand of people took the principal squares of most of the Spanish cities ( Puerta del Sol in Madrid, Plaza Cataluna in Barcelona, Plaza de la Encarnación in Seville...).

On 22nd May Spanish citizens are called to polls to elect local parties and by law, the reflexion day should be off of political demonstrations. At this point politians don't come to an agreement . While some demand this demonstration to disperse , others ( including the people in the demonstration) referes that it is not a political demonstration that it is not against government , it is a complain about the popular situation in the country.  Seems that finally, Spanish government took the decision of let the popular demonstration be with no police intervention.

Journals who published some news about the demonstration: el periódico, el país, la vanguardia, el mundo, le figaro, new york times...

Earthquake in Spain

It seems that the 11th day of the month is a good day for an Earthquake. This morning I read in a Journal that an italian seismologist predicted in 1910 an earthquake in Rome that would completely destroy the city. This roman earthquake was supposed to happen this afternoon. Seems as well that some people in Rome left the city just in case.

The truth is that this afternoon in Lorca, Murcia ( Spain) two strong earthquakes happened ( Journal). It is not an unusual area for seismic shakes as the plates of Europe and Africa are really close but I never heard of such a big intensity earthquake (5.2 the stronger one) in Spain. All this exactly 2 months now from the earthquake in Japan.
